Commitment to Net Zero

Barton Knight Contracting Limited is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 in accordance with UK Government policy and public sector procurement requirements.

We recognise the important role that the construction and engineering sector has in reducing carbon emissions and supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy. As a specialist electrical and critical power contractor, we are committed to improving environmental performance across our operations, supply chain and project delivery activities.

Our carbon footprint is measured in accordance with current UK Government guidance and includes Scope 1, Scope 2 and relevant Scope 3 emissions.

Carbon Reduction Initiatives

To support our commitment to Net Zero, Barton Knight Contracting Limited continues to implement a range of carbon reduction measures, including:

  • Fleet replacement with lower-emission and hybrid vehicles.
  • Reducing unnecessary business travel through digital collaboration and remote meetings.
  • Improving energy efficiency within offices and operational facilities.
  • Responsible waste management, recycling and resource efficiency.
  • Sustainable procurement and the use of local suppliers where practical.
  • Monitoring and reducing employee commuting emissions.
  • Working with suppliers and logistics providers to reduce transportation-related emissions.
  • Ongoing measurement and reporting of Scope 3 emissions.

Carbon Reduction Targets

We have adopted the following targets:

  • Reduce emissions by 35% from our baseline by 2030.
  • Reduce emissions by 70% from our baseline by 2040.
  • Achieve Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
