Conversion of Hillingdon Hospital ICU

August 16, 2023

Barton Knight Contracting is working with principal contractor Storm Building Ltd and designer Eta Projects Ltd on the conversion of Hillingdon Hospital’s old Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The new 14-bed area on the first-floor podium of the hospital will include a sisters’ office, nurses’ office, and stations, with single bed bays, a 4-bed ward, changing rooms and more.

As part of the 14-week, £180,000 electrical programme, Barton Knight Contracting is conducted a full strip out and upgrade of all power, lighting, data, fire alarm and related services. New bedhead trunking is being installed along with DALI lighting systems for advanced control.

Hillingdon Hospital is an acute and specialist services provider in North-West London, close to Heathrow Airport. It is the only acute hospital in Hillingdon, with an Emergency Department, inpatients, day surgery, and outpatient clinics.

Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is an ongoing client of Barton Knight Contracting, which works directly for the Trust. Barton Knight has also recently installed a 250amps supply for a temporary MRI for Hillingdon, upgraded small power in various operating theatres, and added 24 panel heaters to a modular building so it can be used in winter. For more information on this or our other NHS work, or you have a potential project we can help with, call us on 0800 005 1005 or email hello@bartonknight.co.uk.

Barton Knight Contracting was able to complete the critical electrical works safely and effectively in a live hospital environment, despite additional complications from the coronavirus pandemic.
